Executive Board Meeting

Minutes

July 2002

 

  1. Call to order 7:00 p.m. Rick’s on the River, Presiding – President Ralph Schuler.

    Present: Eddie Serralles, Chris & Tiffani Eriksen, Russ Verszggi, Ralph Shculer,

    Steve Micah, David Brown, Robert Gardner, David Foster, John Darby

    Minutes – approved

    Treasure Report - no report, moved to have report at THCA meetings only.

  2. Old Business:

    Robert Gardner asked that a general notice be given to residents living within the CRA

    boundary. Ralph Schuler will write letter to Bank of America , and other parties

    indicating that more worked needs to be done to notify residence of meetings.

  3. New Business:

    Bank of America Community beautification day / effort:

    Ralph met with community liason from Bank of America. Bank will have 100-200 of

    their employs to help volunteer. Tentatively scheduled for August.

    Highland Park has $50K left.

    -Suggestion to fix to wall, Bank will supply and do painting. Also have use part of

    $50K to purchase lights, and leverage to get benches donated. Use rubber matting at

    playgrounds, instead of sand.

    -Suggestion: Have Bank due property enhancement, or clear vacant lots of trash.

    Bank may have concern about liability.

    CDC/Salvation Army:

    David Foster had John Darby talk about the proposal.

    Board moved that the CDC give detailed proposal to THCA Executive Board by next

    meeting, for the Board to evaluate. Move Passed.

    Monument Sign:

    To be located on 7th and Florida. Ralph Schuler asked about status of letter from

    Salvation Army and $5K given to complete the sign. David Foster responded that

    Salvation Army has written letter given THCA rights to use the land for signage, and

    that the $5K was not enough for the signage.

    David to present letter from Salvation Army to Board at August meeting.

    Suggestion: Have Bank of America donate money for sign. Ralph will try to

    leverage money, and offered support to David to help expedite matter.

    Letter from TH CDC President:

    David Foster read letter from President of TH CDC responding to email from Ralph

    Schuler.

    Outcome: Ralph to email retraction of email, because email was sent as President of

    THCA (without Board approval) and not a personal opinion of resident.

    Web Site:

    Move to have President or Vice-President approve material before posting to web

    site. Move Passed. Suggestion to invite Brenda to next Board meeting to discuss the

    policies of placing articles on the web site.

    Garage Sale:

    Postponed to October. David Foster will talk to Mark at Yo Program to see if large

    area can be used have hold a fun day in association with the garage sale. Russ

    Verszggi nominated steer committee to organize day.
